IMAMURA Ken-ichi

Executive Producer of NHK Enterprises

Executive producer, in charge of developing co-production projects with NHK. Advisor of Tokyo Docs which is the sole international documentary event in Japan with the pitching session. 

As one of the most active producer in Japan who has been working with Asian filmmakers, he is now producing the slot of “Inside Lens” for NHK World TV. He produces about 15 episodes every year by commission, co-production, pre-buy and acquisition.  

He entered NHK in 1983 as a TV director. His main focus of interest has been in international affairs and has directed and produced programs. Between 2005 and 2009, he worked for MICO and was in charge of distributing NHK programs for the international market. He transferred to NHK headquarters in 2009 and was the producer and the commissioning editor of the slot “World Documentary” until 2012. For this daily slot, NHK acquires 90 documentaries from abroad and co-produces 10 programs a year.   

He co-produced about 20 documentaries including Planet of Snail which got the Best Feature-Length Documentary in IDFA 2011 and Fallen City which was nominated for World Cinema Documentary Competition in Sundance 2013.  

He is the advisor and one of the founder of Tokyo Docs which is the sole international documentary event in Japan holding the pitching session.  

NHK Enterprises
